I collected some java moss from some streams at Bukit timah nature reserve.

Hi kwangjw, it is illegal to collect any plant specimen from our nature reserves unless with approval from the National Park Board. Please refrain from further damaging our fragile aquatic environments.
Also do not let anyone know where you collected those moss, otherwise any more damage done will be immeasruable.

I would think unknowingly, you may also collect parasites from the soil and eggs (snail or insect). And as the eggs hatch, these could be real unwanted pests in the tank.

On a different note, however, as this is a Nature Reserve, I would advise that people leave all plants/animals as it is. Just a opinion
