Read the book that I recommended first. Then you won't fear algae that much.

Very impressive. Love the tank's natural look.

Considering that this requires little to almost no maintenance, it's very very good. Is the book readily available?

How much light were you using previously? Your current setup has 200 over watts in a 50 gallon tank?

I think you can check the library for it, that was when I borrowed it a decade ago.

I originally had 36Wx4 of PL light, but it was set almost a foot over the water surface, so it was actually rather dim.

And yes, now I have >200W for a 50gal. I think that's into the very high light category? But if you come and look at my tank, it's still rather dim! Maybe because there are so many plants the light can't penetrate to the substrate.

Which is why I added more lights in the first place, so my tenellus can grow back into it's former glory. I used to have a carpet of tenellus, really thick carpet. Then BBA set in, I had to pull out most of the tenellus. Only now it's starting to recover.

Yup, the tank is actually right next to my balcony windows so the temperature is a little high, it's <30degC but still no no for mosses.

Actually I think that's for the better, really hate having to clean up after moss. It gets EVERYWHERE....

    Hi Ervinelin,

May I know where I can get the book? Is it sold in SIngapore? I am asking as I am about to start on a low tech tank myself. Thanks!

You can borrow the book from the library. Just go online and check for availability first. Of course, now that i've publicly typed this.. its availability will drop.

    Wonderful tank Ervinelin.
