    their lifespan goes together with the raining season, these fishes will spawn b4 the water dries out and the eggs will hatch during the next raining season

    Simon, I do have two type of rainbowfish, though one species are still in the juvenile stage, while the other are the the blue-eye type. both type no idea what species. Will get u both pics soon to id and donate to this kind forum. he he

    My two species of rainbowfish. Pics a bit blur coz they are always darting ard.

    My 1st species is a juvenile coz seen the adult size abt 2 inches.



    2nd species


    Try to take their pics when they become adults coz saw adult at LFS less active so easy to take pics(adults not for sale at time of purchase)sigh! So anyone can id this.

    1st pic look like the neon rainbowfish (not sure, pic not clear), check the database, I have both the male and female pic of the neon rainbowfish and the 2nd belongs to the Pseudomugil family.. with some jap like name.. furcara?

    could be pseduomugil gertrude
    or popondichthys furcata
    look out for black colouration
    furcatas are blue and yellow

    hey david,
    the killifish, they know the raining season etc.. but in aquarium how?? no rain, no seasons.. plenty of food...and water to drink..hahaha.. do they still die off? they are quite ex right??

    kel, they look at the shifting of the stars its in their gene, natural instinct. just like salmon traveling a long way to spawn?

    wah.. the fishes know astronomy.. shifting of stars.. but me wonder.. we dun have that in aquarium.. then how? inside the house, no stars leh.. except me.. hahaha..making them see stars.. hahaha

    Guys, I think how hard u try to circumvent nature nothing can stop it. Annual fishes will eventually die sooner than u think even if no season like in a tank. Their genes codes will eventually kick in though never tried or kept one but since they evovle to be annual fish, we just can't adjust that. anyway no harm trying.

    guys aboard have successful spawn their annual killies to get offpsrings.. heard u can get eggs from the Net too
