If it is a freshwater tank, can try some some surface feeding fish like Platies, Mollies, Swordtails or Guppies. I used Swordtails and they cleared the scum.
Or can try absorbing the oil with newspaper/ tissue.

For interim period, you could lay a piece of Serviette over the water surface to absorbe the oil. Repeat process till the surface is satisfactory.

Please also not that such technic will not completely rid your surface from oil.

    Cheers

After a while, I learnt to live with the film on the surface. Can't be bothered to do anything about it.

Same here... live with it. My rainbar pushes water just under the water surface so the gentle turbulance breaks it a little.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
