    Hi all,

My java ferns are turning black.
My tank has anubias, e.tenellus, some crypts and these grow fine. Only the ferns turning black.

Any reason to cause this? lack of certain mineral?

I dose with flourish and lushgrow micro once a week

my setup is a low tech tank

    abt 1 wpg.

All other plants are doing well.

e.tenellus are sending out runners, crypts are sprouting lots of leaves. Anubiases are growing new leaves.

Just only the java ferns turning black.

Could it be that it is just melting due to conversion from immersed to submersed form? I think give it some time. Mine was doing that for almost a month, then after that I am now seeing a lot of new plantlets coming.

Only the tip but for some almost the whole leaf. I am dosing ferts as well. Ferns are quite undemanding so I doubt it's lack of anything.

But Java fern should be ok in low tech. So I am pretty sure it's cause of conversion.

my windelov send out new plantlets at their tips before turning black and sort of dying off.

i think its a case of conversion too.

yes trim it, there is nothing you can do for it. Those dead leaves will not recover
