    Bro edmund77,

If it's confirmed hair algae, you're better off introducing Yamatos to clear it up.
I find fissidens more sensitive compared to other mosses.

Is there shrimps in the tank ? It will be good to know. There are many product out there that can nuke the tank well.. especially works well with overdose and no shrimps or smaller tetras.

i find a good water change quite helpful if the problem is not too serious.

Just take note of my painful mistake made.

If use chemical, pls be cautious that it may kill some shrimps or smaller fishes, that what happen to me. (Despite label stated that will not harm fishes or shrimps)

Safer way- frequent water change and cut down on light timing.

    Cheers.

Re: how to get rid fo green hair algae

sorry to hijack but will the yamatos harrass or dominate a tank full of Cherries? My cherries are not touching the hair algae I think they are too pampered already on shrimp wafers... they still wont touch the hair algae when I decided to cut thier feedings... so I wanna know if adding Yamatos which are quite gigantic compared to cherries will stress my cherries out of breeding...

Persistant water changes, persistant removal of hair algae, increase plant density > 90%, ensure co2 + "even" light distribution, ensure good water flow and circulation.

For forumers suggesting adding shrimps, try to remove the shrimps after they cleared the algae, and you will end up getting hair algae again the following week or the next. Most of the time. Everytime.

i do spend alot of time on time and for my case maually picking them off together as i dont know where to house the malayans when they clear the tank of hair algae incase they breed and cause population problems IMO.
