The Dennerle PH controller costs $580 at Clementi and Rainbow. I asked the auntie at Clementi how come not $480+ anymore. She said that it is a new package with extra stuff inside but didnt tell me in detail. "Pai say" to open up the box without buying. []
I think Dennerle's PH controller is digital while Dupla's is analogue. Dupla's costs $300+ if I am not wrong. IMO, the Dennerle one looks better.
if u got budget constraint, there are some taiwanese brand... I prefer popular brands when buying ex stuff
hi AnA

Need to replace the probe??? I think someone has mentioned it before. I think we also need to calibrate too? Seem troublesome...Hummm...correct me if I am wrong!!!

whats a "probe"??? thanks[]
hi keith
the probe is the glass crystal globe (to be in contact with the tank water) with some wire thingy inside that is linked to the ph controller via BNC cable.
hi Malaysian
if the probe is well taken care of it should last about 1.5 to 2 years before the next replacement.
hi Ana
yes the controller needs to be calibrated once every 1 to 1.5 months.

I'll call the probe "electrode", good way to maintain the electrode is to say put it in warm (60 degC) water (KCL solution is better), stirr it for 10mins. Or you can use diluted HCL (1% conc) then stirr the tip of the electrode for about 10mins once a month and that should help to keep the electrode in tip top condition. Reason is to keep the "liquid junction" clean and free of deposits. Deposit will cause the electrode to have slow response as well as to give in correct readings.----------------

KCl probe ainnit?
try not to scratch the surface of the electrode either
hi guys, i'm currently using a dennerle ph controller. i recently discover that my ph fluctuate by abt 0.3 . is it because of the probe? do i need to replace it? how much is the probe? thanks
btw whats KCL and HCL?
hi keith
think may be time to change the probe.....the original dennerle probe should be around 110 130 dollars......

KCL = Potassium Chloride, HCL = hydrochloric acid.----------------

btw whats KCL and HCL?
----------------
KCL (sometimes AgCl) is usually choosen as the internal solution of pH electrode, this is because K and CL has almost the same molecular weight so they will "move" out of the electrode at almost the same rate and hence you get a more accurate reading. You won't find an electrode using NaCl as the internal solution due to this reason.
Before you change the electrode pls try the "warm water method" mentioned earlier.
thankssssss guys
