Found this butterfly along the stairway. One that i have not came across before. Pity its nearing the end of its life. Nonetheless, what a beauty it is! Is it a nawab?

Your're right in that it is a species of nawab.
The scientific name is Polyura schreiber tisamenus.
The butterfly is a frequent occurence in Singapore and the green larva feeds on the rambutan tree.

    Cheers

Wow ... No wonder i have not seen it before at Toa Payoh Garden, nor the puddling site or at alexander hospital butterfly park. Not even at Sentosa butterfly garden.

I went back to take a look at it during the night and found it shivering on the floor already..

It's pretty rare to spot this blue nawab! Congrats but sadly it's end of it's life.

    Cheers!

    Re: Butterfly ID

Yeah! Another one for the record! Its quite interesting how i managed to photographed it. I was on way out at 12pm and already spotted it at the stairway. Wanted to rush back to grab my camera but did not have time. Wasted opportunity... Then when got back home at 6pm the butt is still there! Was surprised it never moved and no one disturbed it for those hours passed. So its "Ma Tu Liao"....

Its strange how when i was much younger i will shun or dart from any butterfly that comes within close proximity with me. Now, i get all excited finding one near me. And i have you guys to blame . Butts never felt the same after my first and only commando style puddling session with benetay. Everytime one fly pass me now, it will always distract me from what i am doing.
