hi nizz
does your tank happen to get some sunlight for a couple of hours? usually green water is associated with either sunlight or your wattage per gallons is a touch high.
Hi fellas
Have a 'problem'. Water in 2ft tank became cloudy wif tinge of green yesterday (looks like glowing...). Did 1/3 water change, added mardel water clarifier, but no change. Fish all r fine...
This happened wif other 2ft tank 1 week ago too (water change & all but no diff). Then water became perfectly clear overnite....
Any clues?

Hi David
Thx. I suspect it's a wattage too high. Have 72W for 14g now. Get no sunlight.

wow.. u got 5watts per gal, thats high.. could be the reason t yr green water
i use 5 watts per gallon too... and sometimes its exposed to some sunlight as i forget to open my cupboard door to block off sunlight... but there is no green water problem... amano uses 5 watts per gallon also! haha but that guy's nuts... []
ryan, its depends alot on the plants u have
If u have very high and fast growing plants then it's okay =) plants like Glosso if wanting it to maintain low as foreground, 5watts/g is good =).
Nizz Don't let the high light bother you try plants that require high lights =)
Cheers!
Benetay
I'll see wat happens in the next few days. Water conditions seem fine at the moment except for the colouration. I've got some high light plants, & they look great wif the 72watts. Maybe the cld be the cryptocorine wendtii reacting?
Thx for ur inputs guys.
crypts are slow growing plants.
Cheers!

I know Benetay....thx. Wat i meant was maybe the crypt is reacting adversely to the high light...
Nizz
I wonder about the crypts and light too. My office has a low light tank and the crypts in there grow much bigger and faster then my crypts at home which gets 3 Watts per gallon. The office tank has no fert except for fish waste but my home ones has a substrate fert and regular liquid fert dosing.----------------

Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
crypto belongs to the low maintenance grp
i know. Sounds odd, but does high light make them grow less???

nope, jus give them more chances of getting algae... as for slow growers, more light/nutrient wouldnt make them grow faster
Vinz...funny...me experiencing same thing. Other tank wif 30w FL...no fertilizer substrate....no fertilizer sticks...no co2...crypts very green. But the tank with 72w PL & co2...crypts not as green.

hi vinz and nizz
it depends on the cryptos that you have....some species like the balansae, aponogetifolia, blassii, are strictly low light plants and may suffer in high lighted areas.....while most cryptos wendtii type can adapt to both high and low light situation.
