Sand is alright, they could pass it out easily even when swallowed by a bichir. I keep my 3 endlichri on Lapis sand and they are fine. I would guess that a bichirs natural habitat would contain plenty of sand and gravel.
Hello people,
Thinking of using the above as the substrate for my 60x23x28 bichir tank.
I'd be housing 2 albino sens at the moment, but I've read stories of bichirs accidentally eating and choking on the gravel while feeding.
Please advice.
Thank you!

I used to keep alot of bichirs, this black sand is fine, they wont choke on this.
Black sand will bring out the colour contrast of your albinos very well.
However, if you have intentions of expanding your collection into other types like endlicheris, congicus, lapradei etc. My strong recommendation would be Red Quartz Sand. As my experience is that red sand brings out the maximum potential of the colouration in the patterns. While a black sand substrate will just make them look dull and dark.
Hope this helps.
