    what do malayan shrimps eat? do they eat algae besides leftoever food?

    i Have 100 malayan shrimps in my 4 footer. can see >10 anytime scavaging around the forground glosso.. where there r some spot algae. think they eat some. but they definately prefer leftover food.

    you buy 100 malayan shrimps but most of the time u'll find like alot missing...agree? me feel that lor

    They do eat algae, just not as efficient as the yamatoes. Get yamatoes if you can, malayan shrimps are quite useless.

    neh!! personally i prefer malayan to yamoto.malayan can be as efficient as yamato to some extend.Worse! yamato are kinda fond of eating riccia and plants in the aquarium comparing to malayan.

    IMO, Malayans do help in algae control. Yamatos seems harder working as they are less shy and you can actually see them grazing. One thing I dun like abt Yamatos is that they are quite aggresive during feeding time. I saw a yamato snatched food from my discus 20 times it's size.

    If you are thinking which to get, I say get both. This way you dun have to worry which is better to get. Juz remeber to get them proportionally.

    My Malayan multiplies alot. There are everywhere from inside the translucent Filter to the moss.

    Can see alot of youth and babies among the plants.

    can someone show mi pic of yamato shrimp? My malayn shrimops eat leftover red pellets and some turn kinda red..vry nice leh
