Does it compensate for fully planted and non planted and semi-planted?
A user adjustable slider would be good.
I've had lots suggestions on that topic. The problem is that I'm not sure what is the effect of having plants in your tanks. I realize plants do absorb nitrate and other chemicals but they don't absorb every harmful chemicals/toxins excreted by fishes hence I look at plants as safety nets rather than a way to provide room for extra bioload.

I am open to more suggestions...

Re: New stocking calculator with a difference!

Plants work by lifting some weight off the filter. Taking out ammonia and phosphate from decomposing fish waste.
It also takes out nitrates from the filter end product.
I think it has net effect of needing a little less water change.

Then again not true because we do water change for net effect of tank resetting[imbalance of nutrients]. Nevermind. LOL.

Thanks again-I think the calculator's great fun.

I suggest that the fish names be alphabetical order by scientific name or a button to make it so.

    Well done, good effort!
I am using a sump filter, so I just selected user-define for filtration and enter the flowrate of my return pump. Not sure if that's the right way.

Actually it won't work that way.

I thought it would be easier if people just go with manufacturer quoted capacity in gallons but people seem to be more used to flowrate... I think I may end up needing to switch to that.

The problem with the flowrate is that not all filters are created with the same philosophy - some are designed to work with slow flows while others need fast flow. Eheim canisters have slow flows but they do a good job in filtration, as an example...

Exactly what I meant! The fish encyclopedia!

Perhaps in future, you can have another interface extracting data from the same database.
Different forms to choose from, will definitely helps those looking for compatible teammates or new fishes!
