I guess for private, it depends on the management comm. I know a guy who's condo was selected for inspection by Building & Construction Authority (BCA). They asked him to move his 4'x2'x2' tank to another part of his apartment. And if I remember correctly, they actually came back to make sure it was done. Have to check with Simon.

I would also like to highlight that it's better for those of you living in areas where your flats are more prone to experience the after shocks of the indonesian earthquakes to reduce the tank sizes or the number of tanks in your flats cos having multiple or huge tanks in a swaying flat due to the after shocks no matter how small it may be, will aggravate the structural integrity of the building. Looking at the natural disasters that are happening more frequently nowadays, i can't help feeling that we may be seeing more earthquakes from indonesia in the future. Do your part and be responsible towards your fellow neighbours, play safe and don't wait for things to happen before doing something about it.

No. Just large fish tanks in HDB flats. Read the link in the first post. The criteria are there.

I got a stack 3ft on top and 2ft below. Do I have to seek approval from authority?

It's better to do a good write up if you dun want ping pong (back and fro effect)

Do pm me if you need a template of the application!
    Mine went through - Approved

Btw you wouldn't be label as an culprit and as long your neighbour below don't complain of any crack. How its more like we need to be considerate to our neighbours and be extra careful, imagine placing a oversize tanks that weights tons...above the heads of others

A piece of mind!!! Get the permit!
