    Hi

Anybody know where I could buy a strip of tampered heat Resistant glass for my MH lights. Looking for a strip of approximately 72x7 inches. An indication of the price I should pay for would definitely help.

UGHHHH... cannot resist anymore. It's "tempered" not "tampered". The latter would suggest someone fiddle with the glass to make it faulty, and you wouldn't want to use that.

Sorry, Kelvin, no specific sources, but any glass shop or tank-maker should be able to get for you. It'll be expensive, my contractor told me >$1k to temper a glass door. Prices may not be proportional as a glass big enough to be a door is probably a lot harder to handle and temper then a 72" x 7" strip.

I don't think you can find pre-shaped pieces. You can't cut/drill/sand tempered glass; it all has to be done before. So they won't usually have tempered glass sitting around unless it was wrongly shaped and was rejected, and whats the chance that it's even close to what you need. You'll need to custom order from a glass shop.

Oh yeah, there's a glass shop in the AMK Industrial estate opposite from Serangoon Gardens on AMK Ave 3. You'll have to wander around there a bit, it's pretty obvious that it deals with glass. If I remember correctly, it's down the same row as Green Aquarium tank making workshop. If not, it's one of the blocks next to it.

I think tempered glass can be drill and cut. But the cut has to be clean otherwise, there might be a chance that the glass will just shatter due to crack propogating from the cut.

If it's possible, it's difficult enough that no one stocks them. Easier for them to work the glass then temper.

I made my contractor replace the door due to design flaw at his own cost and he didn't bother to try cutting/drilling. He went ahead and got a brand new one done.

Tks guys. Maybe I should just use ordinary glass instead of "tampered" oops "tempered" glass.

There is a risk. I think, for safety sake, the guy replace the whole piece.

My friend actually cut his own tempered glass for his sump. It seemed possible to do so.
