hi i am currently using some lead metal to weigh down some floating bogwood. I am wondering if the lead will leech toxic metal contents into my water?

Yes it will slowly leach into the water column. I would take it out right away.

Generally you should avoid placing any metals in an aquarium. Most of us use rocks to hold down pesky floating wood till its waterlogged.

Are you sure that its lead and not tin that you're using to weigh it down though?
