    I think it's a Mayaca species, probably Mayaca fluviatilis.

    Thanks for the help guys!
    I believe Vince is right as Mayaca grows straight up according to the pictures that I can find on it.
    Najas on the other hand is an almost perfect fit in terms of growth and looks.

    On hindsight, it could also be the Najas guadalupensis...

    Yes it could be Najas guadalupensis, looking at google images they look like it. Indica leaves are much narrow.

    Thank you for the reply. I've been enjoying this plant for awhile. Very useful and best of all, easy to trim. Just pull and it'll snap off cleanly. No need to even cut!
