A caddisfly larva. They feed on plants and use the fibers to make their homes that they carry along as they move in search of food. Harmless animal, but if you don't like it, release it in a pond nearby.
I have a 30 gallon tank that is planted very well. I have 5 neon tetras, 5 rasbora hets, 2 peppered catfish, 4 goldfish, and a butterfly loach. I have been noticing hole in the leaves of my amazon swords and ends of the leaves looking eaten. Then this morning I found a caterpillar eating on one of the leaves. I took the caterpillar out, still attached to the piece of leaf, and put in a small dish of water. It is greenish-yellow in color with yellow bristly hairs, a yellowish head and is about a half an inch long. Any ides what this could be?
