used GEX soil

hi peace be upon all,

Guys, I have a bag of used GEX soil which i decomm from my last tank about 6mths ago... If i wish to set up a tank again, do I need to WASH them first so i can reuse them, or can i just dump the whole thing in?

If you really wants to wash, don't wash with tap water. Use tank water or treated water to wash. best to just dry it and filter out those broken pieaces before use again.

You could wash it if you want, but you will probably lose some soil in the process.

Laying it out in the hot sun to bake and sterilize for one or two hot afternoons would be a good option.

Just be sure to let your tank cycle fully after you restart it and be sure that there is no ammonia left in the water and you should be good to go.
