    hi
i have some very tiny pod shaped insect the crawls
on the drift wood.they are the size of daphnia.
they look light brown and don't dart or free swim like daphnia....any idea what they are?

Very rare to get this kind of fishes, sooner or later it will attack your live stock.

    E.g
Puffer, used to control snail population, will attack fishes/shrimp once snail population are controlled and difficult to find.[]

Maybe you can get THE VERY PEACEFUL Clown loach (bottom feeder) and they eat snails, maybe they will eat any creepy crawlies that moves. But take note that size is larger, may eat your shrimp for a snack...
