    Hi Shadow.
Black Phantoms(Hyphessobrycon megalopterus) do shoal up,they don`t form large shoals though they are always bickering. The males `show` to each other territorially and even sometimes charge and nip each other too.
I`ve never seen them inflict any real harm on each other apart from the odd fin tear.
They`ll get up to 5 cms in size and the males like to have territories so you`ll need to have adequate room for them if you were considering a shoal of say more than ten.
Pretty hardy, like slightly acidic conditions around 6.0 up to neutral 7.0 ph and anything from 22 to 28 deg C.
    I love my scaly wrigglers

I have three males and two females, they are slightly territorial but I have never seen fish that argue and scrap so much, only fin damage though, two females [red adipose fin]also fight but as an act of submission one female has tried to look like a male, very, very dark, even to the point of trying to darken her adipose fin.very good looking group though.
