    went to y618 today, saw a big bag of new crabs.
    The uncle said just arrived today.
    Black colour with small small white dots, the shape look like egg
    and the best part, the 2 eyes are like 2 long stick...

    anybody seem the crabs, and happen to know what species are they??

    When they had long eyestalks they were an Uca species or something other out of the superfamily Ocipodoidea (e.g. Macrophthalmus, Ocipode…).

    i guess you are referring to these. They are known as horn-eyed ghost crabs, scientific name ocypode cerathophthalmus, they are salt water crabs.

    are they still there? tempted to get some if freshwater.
    why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

    That's Uca forcipata, a fiddler crab which can drown since its gills have evolved to lungs. If You want to keep You need a tank with mud or at least sand, this should be moist from salt water. By short contact with fresh water these animals will die.

    Hey these are the crabs I saw at C328! damn cool looking... so they are actually saltwater eh... then I bet they are all gonna die since the uncle just place them together with apple crabs in a small tank with a little water (which I bet is fresh water)... sad...
