that's a neat looking frame.
so do the 2 cross members on the bottom slide along your tank's braces?
Hi folks,
Just want to share what I did for my 3 footer, an AC fan that doesn't get in the way much when I am doing regular maintenance.
I use AC fan because it relief me the hassle of an transformer, cost of fan $16+$2 for the connecting cable, and got some scrap acrylic from the workshop, you can easily buy some at Dama for maybe $10.
Now let the picture do the talking
Now I can slide the lights without moving the fan
Do post here if you need more info !
Thats all folks, thanks for viewing !

The reason most aquarium fans are 12v DC instead of 220v AC is for safety. If the fan drops into the tank it may cause a serious accident.
Be very careful especially if you have kids in the house.
AC fan for aquarium err .... I will use DC fan instead. Too risky, DC fan adpator is not that big.
Thanks for pointing out, true that AC fan pose a bigger risk then DC, the benefit is that I can do away with the chunky transformer.
If you look carefully at the frame, the 2 crossbars at the bottom is to prevent the fan from dropping into the water, as it is line against the side and center brace of the tank, the frame can only slide along the brace, as long as the frame is not lifted, there is no way the fan can be tip over into the water
More question are welcome
Cheers,
Very neat work on the frame.
