I've seen a number of setups with air pump and sponge filter do very well.
Do correct me if Im worng but FR/TFR are same thing as cherries so they will cross.
Hi all,
I'm thinking of starting a shrimp tank probably for fire red after much reading, Kind of gotton poisoned.
I would like to ask a few question :
1) if I use those $8 HOF found at C328 is it sufficient enough for a 1.5ft five plan tank?(Providing oxygen for the shrimps)
2) will fire red cross breed with cherries shrimps as I'm thinking to comm them.
3) do fire red need fan to cool down the water tempreture? tank are not kept directly from sunlight. will be in aircon room from 10pm to around 7am. Other than that tempreture without fan will be around 27-28 degree.
Please advise me on these quries. Thanks in advance!

Fire Red is the same species as Cherry. Just that they are grade according to colours. Cherry -> Sakura -> Fire Red. Fire Red comes from selective breeding from Cherry to achive its intensive red colour. You can rear them like normal Cherries do. Maybe abit more sensetive to water parameter and temperature.

I would rather you use a fan 24/7 rather than aircon at night only. Usually the temp at night are much lower than in the day.
They will cross breed for sure.

FRS no need to use fan. But still have to keep water clean. I think HOF is not very effective in this aspect. I tried in a 1ft tank and the FRS did not survive.
I using HOF for my tank till now my Sakura till ok & also have shrimplets.
I think is not the filter problem most likely is due to your tank size and the temperature....
correct me if I am wrong

I think so. I did not use substrate. So PH etc are not stable.
