    Concept:
The basic idea of this slow growth planted tank is that no artificial CO2 would be introduce, providing 1.5watt/gallon of lights. Will not introduce any ferts and macro nutrients unless signs of diffiency appears.

    Rational:
    1) As I'm outstationed, having lots of problem with those fast growing and nutrients hungry plants.
    2) Experimenting - slower plant growth could mean healthier plants.

    Tank Size: 4x2x2
    Lightings: 37wx4
temp: 26-27 degrees celcius (2 AC fan)
    PH(Last Reading): 6.9
KH(Last Reading): 1 or less (will monitor and increase to 5 over few days)
GH: No test kit available yet
NH3, NO2, NO3: Not tested since today is day 1
    Artificial CO2: none
Base Ferts: Old JBL base ferts mixed with old Lapis sand, using as 3-5inch base(gradual), covered with a 1.5 inch thick new Lapis sand.
    Liquid Ferts: none

Current Plants: Christmas moss, Anubias barteri var nana 'narrow leaf', Microsorium Pteropus, Echinodorus 'Red Rubin', Echinodorus berteroi and Nymphaea species 'Green'

Expected New residents gradually over the months:
Cryptocoryne(various breeds), Crinum calamistratum, will consider all slow growing low requirement plants. Suggestions welcome.

PS: I got all the names from the Oriental AA Plant Handbook, names might be wrong though I tried to follow as close as possible. Please correct as needed.

Current Residents: 1 Ram, 3 Otos, 4 SAE and about 30 left over Malayan from previous tank.

Expected New residents gradually over the months:
30 Rasbora Espei, 30 Rasbora Heteromorpha and a couple of Altum or Discus

    Hi Goondoo,

can't view pics, need to enter uid and pwd.

keep us posted on your tank. myself got an extra 4ft and 2ft tank and was thinking of following Diana Walstad method but not sure to try on which tank.

    Good luck anyway!
