Is it normal to have the water --milky in a new tank....is the CO2 too high?

In the beginning ,the substrate is causing it to be muddy, but now that has settle after planting some plants , then I got the CO2 in, about 5-6 bubbles per second ( too much ? ), now the water is milky....

    HELP !!!!!

    welcome,

we consider safe level of CO2 injection by testing it and not by the bubble count... u can refer to the FAQ section

for yr cloudy problem, it is cause by a bacteria bloom, linking to new tanks most of the time.. have patience

i don't see any problems with water changes
since this is a planted tank, i anticipate it to clear up quite quickly, new tank or not
change the water, and add the fish once it clears, but in small numbers at a time
    have fun

Takes about a week or two. Important thing is don't change water first... if it doesn't seem to start to clear in 2 weeks, ask again.

Yimin...perhaps better to stablise the environment by not changing water.

May or may not help u.

I believe it could be the co2. My tank has been cloudy for a few week. Quite an eyesore actually. Had tried a few water change but the problem keep returning again. As a last resort, I've tried Geoliquid but still the cloudiness return. 2 days ago my co2 supply ran out. The water started 2 clear up. Today when I return from work, the water is crystal clear!

Now 2 get rid of the next eyesore...bba!

Basically I would think of two things:

    1. Introduction of ceramics without washing.
    2. Too much shaking of DIY CO2 bottle.

If it match any one of the above, just tackle them accordingly.

    1. Go and watch ur ceramics and replace the filter.
    2. Dun shake the bottle.

sorry , but is it DIY Co2? I read it somewhere that the mixture of DIY could have flowed into tank and cause it to become cloudy. A one way valve or a bubble counter can help to resolve your problem. If you have a bubble counter, what is the color of the water in it?
Do you have one way valve for CO2?

If you use Co2 tank, sorry I do not have answer. I am also a beginner..
