just bought trace. Will try it out first.
just bought trace. Will try it out first.
you still need to dose N, P and K
i only dose Seachem excel and seachem phosphorus (potassium phosphate)
am i missing something?
it depend on your tank dimension, light wattage and substrate
60L outdoor mini pond. full sun (no way to control). 7 goldfish about 3-4 inch size. GSA is the main problem. every week have to scrub some off.
I now used some land potted plant to create shade for the mini pond.
temp can go as high as 30 i think during day time. so far so good. out of 20 yamatos, 19 survived todate.
rrrr... you are talking about pond, different story. The soil inside the pot should be rich enough.
60L can create pond? lol. If you don't have plants in the pond, you probably need to have some water hycinth (spell correct?). That will provide some shape to keep some lights out. Instead of just trace, you can dose 4 parts of nitrogen and 1 part of Phosphorus. Each part roughly 10ml or so, use a syringe to measure. For areas with algae, aim the excel at those parts.
If you have iPhone or iPod, you can download the Dose Calculator from seachem site. There one for PC also.

the pond is using those fiberglass container. its used for those outdoor waterfeature with granite slabs around it. No soil only water. yes i got quit a fair bit of floater plants covering about 60-70% of the surface. also got some ferns insider the pond.
i use the water in the pond daily to water my other land plants :P then top up the water. think about 10% daily water change daily. recycling the water. i think it should be ok right? the nitrates in the mini pond used to water land plants.... at least they are put to good use
got time i take some pics of my outdoor mini pond and post here.
Kim Yong, do you have a sump tank?
O2, remember that too much Iron and too much Light will promote you as an algae farmer. Potassium is good but remember that ADA soil are good enough. If you are talking about your new 4ft. I'd say that most likely just need to follow up a bit on Nitrogen and Phosphorus dosage. Excel direct injection if needed to. Hope you can grow your fauna as soon as possible. But at the later stage you will need to follow up on those trimmings as well as surface skimming (use a mug to slowly collect will do).
Umm...2nd portion is addressed to O2bubble (Thread owner). I used to calling him O2.
Actually I was about to suggest that UV thingy. Most likely yamato they fought, note that you might count wrongly too since they have tendency to change clothes. Regards to temperature, what is the highest range at the moment? Sat/Sun you can measure. The moment you feel very hot, just walk out to the pond and see the thermometer (be it mercury based or electronic). To bring down temperature you can add those $1-2 plants available from LFS. Since they are cheap and you do not require them to be visible. E.g. Green Cabomba. Also provides hiding places for the yamatos.
Got any picts for your ferns?
To my knowledge,
Plants require some trace elements to look healthy (Correct me if this is wrong.)
Flourish from what i understand is Potassium, Nitrogen, Iron and copper got most if not all of what we need.
Shadow, "N, P and K" is Covered by Flourish?
(I am not really good with periodic table thingy, Stopped at C+o2 and slept )

seachem flourish is very much a trace with small amount N. Check the website or the bottle for the exact percentage.
Seachem have seachem Nitrogen, seachem Potassium and seachem Phosphorus
N - Nitrogen
P - Phosphorus
K - Potassium
Flourish:
Total Nitrogen 0.07%
Available Phosphate ( P2O5) 0.01%
Soluble Potash 0.37%
Calcium (Ca) 0.14%
Magnesium (Mg) 0.11%
Sulfur (S) 0.2773%
Boron (B) 0.009%

i got my potted plants from World Farm and throw away my ferns.
i remember posting some reply to blue whale but not sure why it was lost in transit last week. lol, but does not matter now since i throw away the ferns.
hope those potted plants can do a good job at sucking the nutrients.
^^ I am still waiting for your picts.
Now the best of the best plant I can think for outdoor is actually Bamboo...used commonly by Japanese those 4 by 4 house with ponds. You could plant into the pond or around the pond. Both will have shades and give a very tranquil feel. And no...not the youtube one where they put a buddha in the middle of the tank ^^". Last week server slow down so some post never went in. I know it as I was trying to post as well.
Fruit type plantation can avoid them if they attract ants. Flower type one will attract dragonfly, butterfly (and caterpillas), so it depends what plants you getting. Another plant to consider is Qi Li Xiang, 7 miles fragrance. Direct translation that is.
bamboo?? my mini pond is in the planter box...... dun think i can do that.....
i throw away the ferns. i try to grab a photo next trip up to C328.
or are u refering to the photo of my mini pond? have to wait till weekend. as it is usually dark when i reach home
if u are talking about the sun-moon jar, i have 4 around my mini ponds. but usually by 9 to 10 pm, the rechargable battery runs flat. maybe i need to change to a better battery, not sure if the one that comes with it is lousy. or the product is not as good as it claim.....
my sun-moon jar can even choose color (probably off topic here)
