which moss is good for shrimp tank without chiller. my tank is hosting sulawesi shrimps, and pH is about 7.5 to 8. water temp is about 28 to 29 degree. substrate is small coral chips/coral sands mixture about 1 inch high.

    its a 40L tank.

Is java moss a good choice? intent to use on wire mesh and set the foreground

I think if you put coral chips, it might not really work

    Moss can do well 26-28/29
try a small fan , it will really help to keep the temperature down (but you have to top up water, maybe daily, or every 2 days)

Java moss, taiwan, spiky will all do very well in that temperature range.

    Cheers, Christophe

just to understand more, why coral chips will not work. i intent to root it to wire mesh/rocks. Is the Ph too high due to coral chips?

From what little I know, pH is not the problem. It may be KH/GH problem. Some reports on the native water conditions of the sulawesi lakes shows that its soft alkaline water.
The use of coral chip/sand produces hard alkaline water which may not be the best for breeding/keeping these shrimps.

Some folks had success with just some sulawesi rocks but I don't know what's their GH/KH.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
