    Hi all,

As some of you may know, I upgraded from PL to MH a year ago. The Iwasaki MH bulbs are giving out a yellowish tint instead of the initial nice white output after a year. Even the output of the 6500K PL is whiter in colour. So I am thinking whether to change 2 of my 4 bulbs to 10000K. That is 2x 6500K and 2x 10000K. I know that 10000K is not suitable for plants, but curious to combine the two spectrum and observe the effects on plants. Anyone got unwanted single ended 70W MH 10000K bulbs that I can borrow to test ? I can post pictures of the combo if the forum is interested.

think 10000k light will promote algae growth.
    and gives a bluish tint.

I agree with tawauboy. All bulb has lifespan. Even if it does not blow it will degrade. I think you should use 6500k as this is similar to daylight. Also if you stick with your current light you may start to observe algae growth. This usually happens when the bulb degrades.

Will the bluish tint of the 10000k disappear as the bulb ages? Wouldnt that be ideal since it will just leave a daylight colour.

kingpin....its normal for MH bulb to have color shifts and even if its abit yellowish, its fine as the intensity is more critical then the color. 10000K is for marine.

Thanks everyone for the valuable input. Looks like I will have to stick with my 6500k.
