Just cam back from setting up me cousin's 2ft juwel tank. Apparently the powerhead just died, so now its built in filter just occupies space and collects dirt. I doubt there is a similar size powerhead(its so puny) that can replace it cheap. Anybody have any ideas to utilise this built in filter still? Such a waste if we can't save it. Thanx

    Hi fishboy,

You can order spare parts for Juwel.

If it's just the impeller that's damaged, order Part No. 85110. If the whole power head needs to be replaced, you can order Part No. 85425 for replacement powerhead 101.

Check the Juwel site for the exact model and replacment parts and call Camfurt Enterprise to arrange for the replacement parts.

    Cheers,

I saw a Very small Submerse waterpump at B934 YiShun only $6. There is a series small pump there, maybe you can try that!

Order take time, and may spend more.

I have a friend whose Juwel powerhead died recently.
Is it advisable to get a non-Juwel brand to replace?
BTW - which LFS distributes Juwel products?

    Thanks.

If you know the part number, you can even order it from C328. Alternatively, Sam Yick is the distributor (or rather Camfurt Enterprise, Sam Yick's sister company). You can find parts in any of their stores.

However, quite a few hobbyist have replaced Juwel parts with alternatives and they don't seem to have any problem with it as long as the fit is adequate.

    Cheers,

p.s. The part number can be obtained from Juwel's site.

    Thanks, Benny.

Actually -- how do we know if the impeller is the part that's spoilt?

You don't. You can bring it there for them to replace it for you and test it on the spot.

I did remember seeing Jewel Internal filter powerheads at C328, among the stacks of internal filter.
Price wise, I am not too sure.

Alamak - my friend was ready to dismantle the pump to find a replacement. After cleaning it, he gave it a test to make sure really spoilt. But it came back to life again. So I guess the problem was it being choked in the first place.

But thanks for all the replies anyway.

I even got to know that Biotope will also be carrying Juwel products! So another avenue to go to.
