    Hi all,

I just upgraded my tank from 2 ft to 2.5ft. I laid new substrate but I retained the cannister filter which I did not wash to keep the bacteria.

Now - is it safe to transfer all the fish from the 2ft tank to their new home? It's been 4 to 5 days and I have transferred 1/2 (abt 20 small fish) of them over.

My concern is whether there is any "new tank syndrome"?
Is it safe to buy more fish to put in?

kf, should be safe to transfer the original fish over
but buying new fish should have the usual caveats
i suggest letting the new tank settle before buying more

Just to check, have u used your 1st tank water in your 2nd tank? If so, then the fish is safe. If not, better check the NH3/NO2 level as the bacteria need sometime to work on the new water.

    wks:

Yes - I did not wash the filter and also used 1/2 tank of the original water.

I just transferred all the fish over yesterday. All seem OK.
Also added in 20 Yamatos. Seem OK too.

    Thanks.
