I cannot see any thing wrong , ?
Moss sprout maybe ...
hair algae normally very long (5cm or more). The one in your photo is a short piece, not sure whether it is an algae or just a debris
okay, so I guess the things I pluck I can just leave it there?
Looks like hairgrass or bits of moss stripped of leaves...any SAE in your tank by the way?
whats sae???
I do not have a SAE in my CRS tank. i'm keep an OTTO inside but it keep dieing. do not know what is wrong.
CRS survive but not Ottos, That is weird, CRS normally more sensitive thatn ottos. Maybe they los when fighting for food
Looks like a form of algae- something like Clado.

Hmm had this once in my tank...found this pic from this website. maybe its Staghorn Algae
http://www.aquariumalgae.blogspot.com/
I also find a fair amount of this in my US Fissiden last time...
just got some new ones from a bro and also had this growing amongst the fissiden...
Its not staghorn...looks like moss without the leaves...
Just back from peeping at the samples...looks very similar to the cladophora glomerata depicted here:
Sadly, I'm not able to take any decent pictures of what I saw. Anyone have a good remedy for clado? The plants are still under quarantine so I can probably treat them to remove the algae before they go into the tank
Some updates from my end. I got 4 meshes of infested fissidens to clean out and I suspect there's another form of algae mixed in with the Clado as well as some of the strands looked different under the microscope (damn, I must borrow one that can take photos!)
1 mesh got the 15mins potassium permanganate treatment at "dark pink" concentrations. Things looked abit browner from the staining
Another mesh got the 2mins chlorox treatment at 5% dilution (1 part in 19 parts water). Clado turned visibly white/transparent while the tips of the fissidens fronds also turned pale.
Left both meshed in a window tank that gets morning sun and aircon that keeps them at about 26 degrees C. Will look at them 2 days later and see if the clado are still growing. Will take some proper pics too
