Hi, are you having to many fishes for the size of your tank ? Stop or reduce feeding for at least 3 days and see if it helps. Waste from fish and food contributes to the nitrate so remove that from the equation.
Hi guys,
The nitrates in my tank are around 30-50 ppm after a 25% water change. Is this too high? What can I do to lower it. I do regular 25-30% water change every 2 weeks.
Some things I'm contemplating:
- changing to a larger filter. Currently using the smallest Ehiem Ecco (2235, I think) in a 40"x18"x18" (about 170 litres/ 45 gallons of water) planted tank.
- adding a Fluidised Bed Filter.
Will these help? I'm thinking of sticking to Ehiem. Which should I get?
Also started getting green water again after I trimmed the plants. First major trimming since rescaping the tank about a month ago. Have reduced the photo period and stopped fert. What else can I do?
