are you using a needle valve?
to control the c02 bubbling rate properly, you'll need needle valve.
the regulator only regulates the co2 pressure.

maybe you'll like to tell us more of your co2 setup so that we can help you better.

Bro, dun kill your cardinal tetra over such a small problem. If u want, you can give me your cardinal tetra and then you can kill yourself lah. I'm sure the bro here can help you solve your problem. Juz tell them wat are the setup you using. e.g regulator, diffuser

Yes, let us know the setup of your CO2 tank : -

    1) regulator
    2) single/double pressure gauge
    3) any solenoid valve
    4) any needle valve
    5) bubble counter
    6) diffusor

I dun think people can understand ur explaination. Did any bubbles can be seen before it drops to nothing or no bubbles at all even if u open up your regulator all the way.

What is the pressure on your gauge (both if u have a double gauge).

Otherwise the bros here will be guessing at your problems.

my tank pleasure is... actually is pressure..heehee. is 75kg/cm2. i am using the taiwan made co2 tank about 2litres, taiwan made regulator also..that kind that came in a whole set that cost about hundred plus wit liquid fert plus some small small stuff. using a bubble counter and ceramic diffuser. do not have a needle valve and don knw how a needle valve looks like???? just saw my bubble rate and it is like less than a bps. don dare adjust cuz it might fluctuate again! almost kill my fishes this morning.... all fishes like crazy grasping for air at the surface although i knw they are not suffering from sars.
was wondering whether e problem is wit e taiwan made regulator????
oops! using a single pressure gauge and no solenoid cuz no money to buy solenoid...... will consider buyin one if god give me strike toto.

from you description, you are trying to adjust the bubble rate throught the main valve.
although not impossible, it is quite tough and 'need to pull off a lot of hair' to achieve your bubble rate.
get a needle valve and you be happy.
and use a ph/kh chart to determine the correct co2 injection rate.
    aim for about 20ppm.

Hi...guess what...I have exeactly the same problem as yours!! It also happened after I topped up my CO2 tank. From your description I think we also bought the same product. I also don't have a needle valve but connect direct via regulator. Is a needle valve different from a regulator? After I set the correct bubbling rate by turning the knob on the regulator, the bubbling somehow reduces automatically close to stopping. I wonder if the knob turned back by itself? As a result I think my plants are not getting enough CO2..

I hope I don't have to kill my tetras..

get yourself a needle valve + regulator combo.

the one by JBL (needle valve, flow regulator + selenoid) costs less than $140
    try asking at keong seong

That's the problem with most manual regulators. You need constant adjustments to achieve the correct bubble rate. You should not run the co2 24/7 if you're using sucha high buble rate as 3bps. Your fish sure to suffer CO2 poisoning especially if your tank is small.

What you can do is you can run an air pump during lights off. Or else, you'll have to manually tune it to 1bps or less and leave it on. Just make sure the during light off period the CO2 level doesn't exceed 30ppm.

Alternatively, you'll have to switch on and off manually. This way will be safer but very troublesome.
    Cheers!!
