Hi all. Is it a must to have co2 for riccia? If yes, another other alternative then dosing co2 itself? Want to have a carpet of riccia, thank in advance !

I think one bubble per 2 second of CO2 is better if you want to have Riccia "Peal" effect. Also sufficient amount of lighting is a must, eg: 2 watt per gallon.

All plants need a source of carbon.

Our water naturally has some dissolved CO2 though it is very low.

Whether you need to inject CO2 will depend on how much lights you have, the more lights you have, the more you should inject CO2. This is because plants are "triggered" by lights.

If you wish to increase the level of carbon in the tank, then besides injecting Co2, you can also introduce Seachem Excel, which is an organic source of carbon. It is available in liquid form.
Studying the water chemistry and nutrients is a science.
Knowing what plants to get and how to use them is an art.
Aquascaping is a marriage of art and science, the logical and emotional.

    Hi,

Riccia can still grow quite well without Co2. However, I will always inject a bit of Co2 when I am taking photos of the riccia as you can see many beautiful little bubbles on the riccia.

    Re: Riccia

riccia grows very fast in CO2 tank under low temperature.. after a while it grows bigger and it will flow to the ground and make the tank messy..

what to do with it when it grows bigger and bigger?

    Hi,

You probably have to be quite hardworking to rearrange the riccia..why not try mini riccia? The growing rate is slower and it doesn't grow too long...easier to maintain. =)
