Do you use Seachem Excel solution in your tank? If yes, then it is just the algae dying off. I have that in my tank too. If no, then I have to leave this for the gurus to answer.

I've recently noticed a maroonish/reddish algae amongst the usual green! Has anyone had that? Any solution apart from cleaning it off the glass?

No, don't use any additives apart from the water conditioner when I top up or change water.

Is your tank freshwater?
I've got some red slime algae growing in a tank of mine, but it's brackish (SG 1.010) probably hitchhiked from some macro algae I transferred from my marine tank.
Same i see redish brown algae that looks fluffyin one of my tank. Dont knw what it is? Does anyone know what it is? Its seems to be growing or increasing.
