Recently, 2 rare visitors came to my home. a ladybird and a mantis. i think these 2 insects are quite rare in urban areas, and i was surprised that they came to my house, which is on the 19th floor. The ladybird has left already (i think), but the mantis is staying. in fact, i have had the mantis for a few months, it is living among my plants.

    The ladybird:

Sorry, but i would prefer to give this mantis its freedom. Right now, it is free-running and walks about my whole balcony, i wouldnt like to enclose it in a box. sorry

lucas that mantis still juvenile. Soon you'll see it disappear when food for it is more scarce.

Kept them before, really nice to keep pets for a while. Should look at them having a meal .

    Hi Bro,

If you can try to feed meal worms, the thin type. I sure this mantis will forever be stay at your balcony for the rest of its life!

I used to keep many kinds of mantis when i were younger in my old hometown, my gardener fed them crickets, grasshoppers and meal worms. They do recognize its master if feed them regularly and of course they can be easily tame like the Bangkok temple's tigers!

    Try it if you like..
    cheers

    Hi guys,

dont worry the mantis is still here. i have been feeding it regularly with spiders, grasshoppers, butterflies etc, all caught from a grass field near my house.

Sometimes when i see the way it eats, it is a bit . there was once it ripped out the head of this flying ant, and it ate the whole head, whilst the body was still struggling in its claws. then it proceeded to suck out the body juices, and left quite a mess, of the carcass and some legs.
