if im goin off for three months overseas wat should i do???

1)wat happen if my co2(2litres) runs dry?? should i get a bigger tank??

2)should i trim my plants as short as possible initially so it will not grow out of the tank when i come back. should i??

3)wat happen if i never change my water for three months??

4)should i get a auto feeder or ask my fren to feed my fishes once a week??

can anybody give me an advice if only one of my frens can only come to feed my fish once a week and not goin to do any water change for me.

It would not be wise to use a fish feeder for one week. 4 days is a good mark. Water splashes due to filters and/or fish movements. The food will be no good at 5th day.

If you stuff the feeder with 7 days of food, you might end up having a forest growing at the feeder. Yup, I tried that before.

Moreover, if you overload the feeder with food (ie. too heavy) The feeder might not be able to function accordingly too. Yup, I encounter this before too. BTW, Auto feeders are not cheap. Most of them runs on batteries. Remember to check on the battery life too.

If it is alarm clock type feeder, alkaline batteries would be no good. Clock normally dun run on alkaline batteries. But used alkaline batteries are okay. Tested.

For Co2, a backup tank would come in pretty handy, provided your friend is willing to top up the exhasted tank for you. [:]

Filters if left un-attended, might be flooded with a lot of dirts and "impurties" (need not have to be specific right? ). If there is a choke, the water level in the filter will rise up. You will end up losing water from the tank. So this is one area you might want to pay special attention to.

    3months....

how about you transfer the tank for someone else to care for....

or maybe just the fishes inside, as for the plants... i believe it should not be a major prob. just get timers for the lights and just top up the water to the max.then can fix a few bottle with a pipe into the water level. so when the water dries up to the level where the pipe ends, the water will flow into the tank from the bottles.

    it works for me.

if you still dun understand......let me know i try to draft one illustration.

    pengz...not to that extend lar.
just pass the fishes to someone else, and give away the plants that will do.
then when its time to return, just get the plants back from those you have given.
    :P

and i am one of the candidate.
