    Hi Guys!
Probably, someone has asked this ques before.
Anyway, I need to clear this up once and for all. Well, my question is, if we use the power sand beneath the ADA soil, do we still need base fert???
    Thanks![]

no, technically, u don't even require a layer of powersand beneath nor do you require a layer of base fert.. the porous powersand, helps colonisation of bacteria

    Hi Adman76

Your ADA soil is the base fert. Why are you placing power sand below?

To clear some doubts here, actually ADA Aquasoil is porous gravel which will help cultivate bacteria as what Simon had said .

It is always said to everyone that ADA Aquasoil doesn't need base fert for good growth but to clarify everything better, ADA has a series of base fert which is the ADA powersand series - A volcanic base fert.

Base fert is needed for plants such as crypto and echinodorus speciment plants which need tons' of nutrient from the bottom - base fert.

Unless we dose a lot of liquid fert which the Aquasoil may absorb and release upon required, it's always best to lay a layer of base fert regardless of what brand it is.
    Cheers!

actually, reading on what powersand is, its not base fert per se, I believe its there because of the high cec of porous materials like (whatever is in powersand, pumice?)
