ronig, u can grow them on mesh.. avoid if your pH is lower than 6, doesnt do too well... cool temperature does help in their growth
Hi All,
please advise how to "carpet" my tank bottom with xmas moss.
My current equipment is as follows:
Tank 4x2x2ft
Light: 4x36W PL tubes, eballast. & a 30W or normal FL red light.
What is the best conditions to grow & maintain xmas moss?
What is the best way to hold the moss at the bottom?
Any addtional advise are wellcome.
thanks

Thanks Simon,
Is xmas moss good at absorbing amonia?
Does xmoss lowers the PH?
tks
NH4? don't think so, u can try floating plants instead for that purpose. plants do not lower pH []
wah simon..u laugh at my question ar! no choice, i am still an amature in this planted tank tingy
You and Vinz had been a great help really.
I just got back my confidence to start fresh with arowana & planted..its a long story bro.
anyway i am coming back with a vengeance..this time want to try mixing aro in planted tank..kekkeke (wish me luck)
BTW bro, do u mean that basically floating plants are good ammonia absorbers? can recommend a few common types?
Thanks
nope, just laughing [] anyhow, Aro + planted belongs to vinz u can try frogbit or duckweed.. if bigger tanks, please use frogbit.. easily to remove when they overpopulate yr tank
ronig, from what i know, low temp are good enuff for these plants to thrive ... lightings does not have to be strong ... i've heard some water currents also help, and some potassium might help too ... i've tried java moss and they grew quite well ... check out my thread somewhere below for the pix
btw, where did ya get ur xmas moss??
... always look at the bright side of life
