tltan: for tennllus, try Teo, he has the emersed form... 1ft is a small tank and best u can select small/short plants to keep the tank to a certain proporation.. have u tried mini-riccia? MM, DD oso can
Hi,
would like to start on my spare 1 ft tank..
was thinking of just creating a lawn of E. tenellus-where can i get it from? can it bubble?
also, i bought a pack of aqua-colisa gravel from petmart. It should be enough thickness right..was thinking of adding soil fert (jbl aquabasic or something-those used for Gan's planted tank) but is one bag too much-meaning does adding too much of such base fert harm in anyway. Would also like to seek some suggestions from the seniors here as to what other plants (small) can i get to beautify it. Thanks a whole bunch =)
Sorry for the long post[:]
regards,
tltan

Blyxa Japonica, with your tennelus.... with a nice rock formation? Can try for Amano style, grassland scapes.
Just my $0.02.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
These are the plants I have in my 2.5-gallon tanks:
Lobelia cardinalis (dwarf form, I think)
E. tenellus (marked as "broad-leaf tenellus")
Bacopa monnieri
Hemianthus micranthemoides
Echinodorus parviflorus (var. 'Tropica, probably)
Cryptocoryne wendtii
Echinodorus quadricostatus
I also have a bit of floating riccia, which started as a few contaminant pieces. Eventually, it blocks the light from getting to the plants below it, so either avoid it altogether, or tie it down to rocks/driftwood.
H. micranthemoides should be avoided if you don't want to be constantly pruning. The stuff just creeps everywhere and gets out of control. And the E. quadricostatus gets *way* too big - I'm going to have to get rid of it all.
If you're planning to include swords, make sure you fertilize them at the roots. My parviflorus were really looking bad until I added bits of plant fertilizer stakes near their roots in the substrate. In general, rosettes like this; even my crypts benefit from root feeding.
Have fun - I love tiny tanks.
