Are antibotics for humans similar to those used for fishes? Will the antibotics affected the bacteria present on the filter media? That is if antibotics is added, the aquarium needs to be re-cycled again? Lastly, any other side effects?

    Thanks

i guess i could start the ball rolling .. here goes..
well i have read from some books that in fish right its accually known as antibacterials
erm.. some of the antibiotics or drugs for fishes are accually the same as wat we are using(some only) .. but in smaller dosage and r controlled..

i guess if most of ur fishes r sick.. i think it would be wise to clean and disinfect everything and start all over again..
it may not be necessary to redo.. but for me i'll do it as a precaution

depending if the antibotic is gram negative(will not harm biological), gram positive(will harm biological). perhaps the link below may help

Medication that may or may not harm your biological filter

depends on whether the antibiotic targets gram negative/positive bacteria

rule of thumb (btw u guys know how this expression came about?)

if you don't know what it is, don't put it into your tank

Thanks LA, David and Yimin. After those discussions, I think I better not add in the antibotics whether it is gram positive and negative. [:]
