    Guys,
have a shock this morning when i switched on the light of my tank! there's a lot of white stuff on the surface of the water. looks like bits of tissue or cotton wool.
no smell whatsoever. tank is near to 2 weeks old. should i be concerned?

    thanks,
    zul

    DIY CO2?

    nope,
water parameters are 3kh and 6.5ph which gives me somewhere around 20-30 ppm. is that okay?
my golden neon tetra have lost their shine but my cardinals are okay. does it mean co2 overdose?

Do a 50% water change should take any funny stuff out of the tank...seems to be some organic stuff perharps. If your pH and KH readings are accurate, then it should be fine. I believe it might be high ammonia or nitrite spiking....get test kits to monitor the water parameter closely.

Do you have other fish tanks? Collect the mulm from those tanks and add it to your filter should help speed up the cycling process if it is in progress.
