    Hi,

I recently discovered 3 Nymphaea Stellata tubers (without any leaves left) in my substrate. The thick white roots of 2 of the tubers have rotted and turned black such that when you invert the tubers, they looked like a head with dreadlocks (I presume the 2 tubers are those that recently lost all their leaves). The other tuber is "bald" (should be the one that lost all its leaves a month or two ago).

Any tips on how to determine whether the tubers are alive, dormant or dead? And if they are not dead, what is the best way to deal with them? Thanks!

Actually, I would be more worried about your substrate than the 3 tubers. Having a rooted nymphea lose all its leaves and the presence of black roots may indicate that your substrate has turned anaerobic.
