    Hi, anyone know the answer?
Me trying to get some female yamato. Hope to keep a yamato family and see if they breed.

How to tell them apart if they are not carrying egg?

How many Yamatos are planing to get? If you're getting a whole bunch of it, chances are you'll get a few females.
    Cheers!!

yamatos in the LFS are highly unlikely to be carrying eggs or in the condition to breed...... you will have to buy several and give them optimum conditions before females with eggs start to appear...

Wah ... 14inch tank with 3 yamatoes and 30 fishes ... Even if you get a breeding pair in that tank, what are the odds of the fries surviving > 1 day?

    Wah...This is what it says....Thanks.

    Female larger than male :
    female +/- 5 cm ..... male +/- 3,5 cm

To determine the sex, look at the body of the shrimps.

If the points are round and irregularly arranged, it concerns a male, Are they rather in a line form, then you have a female. Females also have bigger abdominal proportions (eggs).

This morning I was surprised when I'm cleaning my filter I saw a lot of small shrimps but not sure what kind coz I have 4 types in my tank.
So be careful on cleaning your filter. If you want your shrimp to multiply.
