Poorer quality lamp do exhibit shift in colour and brightness significantly as it ages. So far for me, better lamps, seems to retain brightness and colour better.

I'd noticed most if not all 55W PL lights (the 4-pin type) do not have proper light holder for it. Most shops (including NA), improvise by using a row of H-type connectors. This does not allow quick-release and it requires a test-pen screwdriver to do the job which can be quite dangerous for an untrained hobbyist. Does anyone knows where to find such light holder? I did not call Lian Eng Electric cos' I find it difficult explaining to them in Chinese.
Most of the lightiing shop should have. Just tell them the light holder for 4pin PL tube, a few dollars only for those made in china one.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.

Every lamp without starter incorporated, needs electronic ballast to function and also with appropriate equipment can become dimmable!

Hi,
There is another new PL lamp which is not mention in this thread.
It is a electronic PL lamps to replace the old 2pin PL lamp+starter type.
This PL lamp uses about 30-40% less energy to light up a PL tube.
The current used is only about 1/4 of normal PL tube with a magnetic ballast.
This also means that it generate less heat.
The lamp do not have starter, this means that the tube can last longer without going through much flickering when the lights turned on.
The PL lamp can also be connected directly to 230Vac instead of going through the ballast.
It is available from saveOne. They have a power meter for customer to compare the advantage of this new PL lamp.
For those who are concern about electricity bill, I think it is worth changing your lamp to energy saving type.
Hi spider,
saveOne is in Havelock Road and near Bukit Batok area
You can check up the website for the actual address and direction.

It is a new product.
I have done a comparison table between saveOne lamps and other lamps today.
