hey guyz, i recently bought a red plant and it has juz begun to grow and sprout. but when i can actually see the new shoot, it is actually green in color. is this a normal case or am i lacking sth?

quite normal... one such plant commonly sold here is rotala rotundifolia "colorata"... most lfs sell them bright red in color... problem is the redness is due to the process and nutrients used to grow them in hydroponic conditions... In aquariums, the best we can hope for is a dull red/orange... often times green. In fact, I suspect that the plant you got is exactly this...

Yes... My Rotala Sp (Taiwan) with almost Circle Leaves with Red Stem...
turned green after a few weeks. The new shoots growth look like the normal Rotala indica. The Original round leaves are now all gone!
Only when the growth grow near to the lighting, then it turned red...[]
Baby Steel!
A lot of the plant are cultivated above water. Not supprise if they turn out different after sometime under water.
