ime, only those white plastic air stone can produce fine enough bubbles. however, the bubble size varies frequently and is not consistent.
flipper is quite good but in terms of co2 diffusion efficiency, a 3-ball reactor would be a better choice.
hi guys.ytd i went to DIY a co2 bottle.1st try...success!happy man...but...initially the bubble is like 2-3 per 15 secs.(im using those plastic rainbow colour airstone.)so when i wake up this morning...its better...abt 2-3 bubbles every 4-5 secs.but the bubble rise up quite fast.mine is a 2ft depth tank.so u guys tink i should get a flipper?the nutrafin set?got one bro here selling me for $20 the set.cos the flipper looks chio also. but efficiency wise...wad u all tink?can advise?or should i just leave it like this.(btw...the air tubing and airstone spoil abit of the view.)

but a reactor dun come cheap rite?hehe...no job.hve to cut cost.a flipper how much?$15?
check out some lfs for prices of a reactor. don't think it's expensive. could be about $15.
a dennerle flipper cost >$50 while a nutrafin flipper should be about $25-$30.

maybe after looking at flipper for a while, you'll be sick of it and hide it behind some plants.[]

You could also try placing the airstone below the filter intake, so the bubbles get sucked up into the filter instead of rising to the surface and blowing away. They will dissolve as they pasthrough the filter. Try this before you spend a lot of money on a reactor.
I'm bubbling 5-6 bubbles/sec through the Eheim 2028 into my 6ft tank and it all dissolves.

i am sure you'll get 'guggling' sound from your filter.
even without touching your filter, you'll get 'guggling' sound.
this should be due less dissolvable gases that has accumulated until they are big enough to force their way through the filter media. when the impeller is beating both air bubbles, it places stress in the blades and may shorten the lifespan of your filter.

you'll need to reduce splashing in filter compartment. use filter wool or cloth to smoothen output flow from pump. the down pipe from filter compartment has to be below water surface and you'll need some filter wool to smoothen the flow back to your tank. ensure that minimal amount of bubbles appear in your tank.
another option requires your overhead filter will function as a mechanical filter only and any biological function will be killed. switch off your pump filter during light on. this will minimise co2 outgassing.

No, there is no noise or bubbles coming from the filter. As far as I can tell all the CO2 dissolves.
Is 5-6 bubbles/sec a lot? I don't know. The fish aren't gasping and the plants are bubbling nicely, so it seems to be ok. It's a big tank with an open top, so I probably lose a lot. If anybody with a 6' tank can tell me how much they are injecting it would be a useful comparison. Thanks.

i used to pipe co2 into my 2226 and get frequent guggling and tiny bubbles coming out from my filter. it stopped when i did not pipe co2 into the filter.
you can check whether your co2 injection is sufficient by using kh/ph chart. aim for 15-30ppm. comparing with a similar sized tank will not give you meaningful information because each tank is unique.
