    Re: LionFish

Well it is quite common for FW hobbyist to feed their FW monster fishes with FW feeders, but from what I have read, this is usually discouraged for Marine fishes like lions, this are some info which I read from reefcentral and the advanced aquarist magazine, its a cut and paste from these websites. Hope it helps!

It is a very important issue towards the long term well being to the animals you keep.

This link is a very good article on the subject written by Ph.D. Rob Toonen.

    Section 2 covers live feeders.

    Hi,

For add info, you can try to intro chopped market prawn and wean them to take frozen food instead if you do not wish to feed live food.

From my experience, most lionfishes are easy to be weaned.

A friend of mine used to keep a volitan, fed with market prawns but he got to wriggle the prawn abit so the fella will attack. Pretty hardy fish and snacked on his cleaner shrimp the moment he put it in. LOL. Expensive meal.

He also fed in brine shrimp when it was still a tiny dude.

You can keep other fish, but I would keep other aggressive types. Please make sure you get a huge tank, they really need it, particularly since they can be messy eaters.

    Re: LionFish

Yes lionfish are beautiful and can give a bad sting to you if you are not careful. They have a big tank as they are messy eaters with the food they eat. You definitely need a skimmer to put the "dirt" from the water.

Please train them to eat market prawn - cheaper on pocket on the long run. They are single species fishes - meaning they don't live well with other species.
