Currently, i am using a 2x9w PL light on my 1.5feet tank, seem like not really very strong for my plants to photosynthesis, Esp riccia. I bought this light at $55. Where else can i get another light to add on to my tank? Clip on PL light set? How many watt is sufficient?

more light has no harm if you match it with adequate dosage of fert and co2. You can even have 50-80W for your 1.5ft.

    Hi there,

I have a 2X18W Atman lights ($50 from Nature) which I am trying to sell off after less than 2 months of usage.

It seems that its way too powerful for my 1.25ft tank or I have not been keeping up with the nutrient dosage, coz those fuzzy algae are starting to grow.

Just changed to a set of Ocean Free lights (2X11W) from Petmart today... hopefully all goes well.

Do let me know if you are interested in my Atman lights. Willing to let go for $40.

SMS me at 9071 0881 please.

    Hi SH,
Can't really help you much cos the info you've given can't really describe your situation. But I'm guessing that your lights could be sufficient even for Riccia. Normally we go with the guide of 3W per US gallon of water for florescent lighting.

The reason why your Riccia is not bubbling could be a number of reasons e.g. insufficient CO2 injection, poor fert regime etc. Maybe you could provide some more info on you tank parameters, we could help to pin point where could be the problem. You can use the questionaire as a guide on what infomation needed.

    Good Luck!
    Cheers!!

I believed that your light is sufficient. In the past, i also used 2x9W PL light for my 14 inch tank. The riccia is bubbling.

Did any of your plants block your riccia cause it need strong direct light?
Did you add CO2 as well?

Use a 75W MH light! Super overkill! Everything will be bubbling, (due to water boiling
