anyone able to help me?.
thanks in advance...
from the start till now, my glosso have always been attacked by small little dark green spots on their leaves. may i know what causes it to happen?.
been dosing TMG weekly, only
and water change every 1.5 - 2 weeks time
NH- 0mg/l
NO2- 0mg/l
NO3 - omg/l
KH - 4dkh
PH 6.7
anyone able to help me?.
thanks in advance...
i think it may be green spot algae.
hmm so u mean that green spot aglae don't only grow on the glass but on leaves of plant too?.. i see
then any ideas on how to remove it?
thanks
I had that when my glosso are growing slowly. Once my light and nutrients are right, the glosso grow real fast and the spot algae will have no way to stand.
How fast is fast. Double real estate in 2 weeks.
hmmm..i see..i get the idea too..
thanks alot
but i'm concerned that i'm having 0 for my NO3....is it necessary to have it?.. how am i suppose to increase it?...
I think 0 NO3 is definitely not right.
If you are as new as me in planted tank (3 mths baby)
I suggest you use comprehensive liquid fertiliser first. It should containt most nutrients.
If we can manage that, then we can move on to advance stage..dose and control every component of nutrients.
Not expert here, just a basic step by step approach. Me using comprehensive fertiliser too. Even that, it is quite challenging to experimenting to dose the right amount.

What kind of NO3 test kit are you using? Any fish load in the tank? If you are sure about your NO3 level, try to bring the level up to 5ppm for a start but monitor closely as you dose P, K, traces. See if the NO3 drop...how long does it take to drop? It should take about 2 days...any less than that and your kit is likely to be junk. Stunt plants don't eat heavy amounts of NO3~!

so it means i need to get a new set of fertiliser, TMG can't do the work?.
using the Tetra No3 test kit, effective and accurate?
30 cardianl tetras n 10 plus shrimps, 3sae n 2 otos.
thanks PeterGwee n Eric.
but how am i suppose to rasie the P , K , traces and NO3. what is needed and where can i get those stuffs?
Go slow pal....get your CO2 stable between 20-30ppm during the entire light cycle is the most important thing. After you get that fixed, you can get stuff like KNO3, KH2PO4 and K2SO4 from Dr Mallick. TMG is good stuff (traces). Plants need light, nutrients (N,P,K, GH(Ca/Mg), traces) and CO2.
The kit you have is only good for existant or non-existant testing of NO3. Good kits cost a bomb...[]

thanks alot,
it has been almost 6 weeks since i started.. CO2 remains stable throughout, and TMG is the only fert i dose.
So i guess i need to get stuffs from Dr Mallick, any other alternative?...and where do i get it from?
If you CO2 level just before lights "on" and "off" falls in between 20-30ppm range, then you have it nailed real good. Now it is time to fix the fert problem. You can get those stuff from Dr Mallick's outlet at crawford lane...the address can be found in the LFS list on slightly top right hand side of the screen. Do call the outlet first as the stock might be out and needs to be replenish.

Loner,
You should continue TMG for dosing of traces while get Dr. Mallick stuff to supplement. Do be carefeful with NPK dosing. Wrong dossage could be quite messy resulting to more algae. The key is balance.
I think PeterGwee mean PO4.Pure P could be explosive in contact with water....----------------

Petergwee, thanks alot on the information
sherchoo, so whats the exact requirement for every element? does it comes with an instruction and information?
Since TMG is a TE with K, you will need only KNO3 and maybe some KH2PO4. Use KH2PO4 only if you know what you are doing.
As to how much is needed to dose, you can use chuck's calculator to help you.
All you have to do is to dose enough to maintain a healthy level for plants to grow.
check out this website for recommended levels of nutrients for plants.
guys,
thanks alot..
